About Matthew
My name is Matthew Lee, I’ve been playing drums my whole life and I am eager to share my passion for music! I’ve played gigs of many different styles and concepts, with people like Russell Hall, Isaiah J. Thompson, Emmet Cohen, Wynton Marsalis, Georgia Heers, among others. Having grown up attending the program Jazz House Kids, and having taught at their summer workshop as a teaching assistant, I’ve developed a strong understanding of how to effectively communicate with every level of student, and most importantly keep the process enjoyable.

Lessons will be tailored to each student and their needs, while still prioritizing learning the fundamental aspects of playing the drums in any style!
I do not have one set in stone approach to teaching. I value understanding the student’s relationship with learning their instrument over everything, so I can most effectively and comfortably challenge them to improve! This is how I was taught and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
My goal is to help form each of my students into a drummer that feels capable to participate in any musical situation with full confidence, prioritizing being a well-rounded drummer
