About Nanki

I have 10+ years experience in teaching GIS and remote sensing at the university level. I have a PhD in Geoinformatics and 5+ years experience as a post-doctoral researcher and am also currently a lecturer of GIS in London. I am extremely passionate about GI Science and want to help students maximise their skills in the area, which can carry them beyond a limited university experience, well into their career paths!

About the lesson

I want to equip students with the tools to use techniques in GIS across a wide spectrum of challenges from environmental problems to human geography. I am a firm believer in using reproducible approaches that are comprehensive, hands-on and cater to a range of skill levels - beginners to advanced learners. I design personalised lesson plans based on the needs of the students. My sessions emphasise hands-on training using real-world datasets and software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and ENVI. Students will engage in projects with real-world applications, such as, urban planning, environmental monitoring, disaster management, and other fields, to enhance their problem-solving skills and technical proficiency. I aim to establish a solid grasp of fundamental concepts before moving on to more advanced topics. This includes understanding spatial data, map projections, data visualisation, and the principles of remote sensing. The lessons are aimed at university students, however, anyone with an interest and passion for GI Science is more than welcome!
