About James

James Freyne is an experienced technical drawing educator with a strong background in design, engineering, and real estate. He holds a degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Limerick and a master’s in Real Estate Valuation from Heriot-Watt University, accredited by the RICS. Having lived and worked in Dubai for over 15 years, James brings a global perspective to teaching, connecting practical drafting and digital modeling skills with design thinking and real-world problem-solving. His lessons emphasize accuracy, functionality, and creativity, helping students understand how technical drawings guide the creation of real-world structures. James fosters a hands-on, engaging learning environment where students build confidence through project-based work, precise drafting, and critical thinking. His goal is to help learners develop technical drawing skills, analytical thinking, and design awareness that support both academic success and future career pathways in construction, architecture, or engineering.

About the lesson

This Program is designed for students who want to develop practical skills in technical drawing and design and communication graphics while preparing for the Irish Junior Certificate or Leaving Certificate. Lessons are project based and interactive, combining structured guidance with hands-on drawing and digital modelling practice and constructive feedback.

Each course is customized to the student’s grade level and individual needs. Students are assessed to identify their current skills, coursework, and upcoming assessments, and a tailored program is created to align with the Irish curriculum and provide appropriate challenges. Projects may include residential layouts, furniture designs, small structures, or commercial plans, all developed within realistic constraints such as scale, materials, orientation, and function, while following best practice and industry standards.

Lessons focus on developing critical thinking, problem solving, technical drafting skills, and iterative design thinking. Students can also request tailored support for school assignments or upcoming assessments, ensuring lessons are directly relevant to their academic goals and helping them approach projects with confidence, precision, and strategy.
