About Amy

Hi, I’m Amy! I’ve worn a few different hats over the years—from Army fatigues to sports gear and teacher’s whistles. These days, I’m busy building the next generation of leaders in schools, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the "science" behind the sweat.

I’m a firm believer that understanding the why makes you better at the how. When I’m not tutoring, you’ll find me chasing a ball on the hockey field, grinding out a game of squash, or exploring the great outdoors. I’m looking to help students bridge the gap between physical activity and academic excellence—bringing a bit of grit, a lot of experience, and a genuine love for the subject to every session.

About the lesson

As a former classroom teacher, I specialise in transforming the theoretical side of physical sciences and health into engaging, high-impact learning sessions. Whether you are prepping for NCEA external standards or looking to deepen your knowledge, we dive into the "why" behind the "do." Together, we’ll explore fascinating topics such as:

Biomechanics & Anatomy: Decoding the physics of how the human body moves and the skeletal-muscular systems in action.

Exercise Physiology: Understanding how our body systems adapt to the rigours of physical performance.

Sociology of Sport: Analysing the impact of media, gender, and commercialisation on our national sporting identity.

Outdoor Environmental Studies: The theory of sustainability, risk management, and the philosophy of "Leave No Trace."

Hauora & Mental Health: A holistic look at wellbeing, including nutritional science and the societal influences on health.

Get the classroom-grade instruction you need with the flexibility of online learning. Let’s turn theory into your competitive advantage!
