I recently graduated from the University of Iowa with my masters degree in chemistry. I taught general chemistry to freshman for 6 semesters, and one semester was taught online. Many of my discussions showed improved grades from the first exams to the final.

I taught freshman in discussion sections. Generally there were about 25 students that worked on a worksheet I had prepared that covered all chapter material. I would work through practice problems with the students and check their work. I'd even work through homework problems at the beginning of each section to make sure everyone was caught up.
