About Adrian

I am an English language teaching professional, Masters in Education (TESOL) and RSA CELTA qualified, and ready to work with you. I've had the privilege of teaching hundreds of students from across Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. I have helped many students prepare for a wide range of external exams, including IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge First Certificate and Proficiency, KET and PET, and I was an IELTS examiner for some years. In addition, I have provided academic preparation in English to undergraduate ESL students who were getting ready to enter Masters programmes taught in English. My most recent teaching has focused on English for Specific Purposes, working in a military aviation environment.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology is completely focused on the needs of the learner. It's a communicative approach which puts the learner right in the middle of everything. Not everyone likes to learn in the same way, or is able to learn in the same way. Therefore, right from the first contact, I will be finding out what you want to achieve and how you would like to do that. Of course, this is where my experience is vital, because I am able accurately identify your needs and ensure that my approach meets those needs. My fundamental belief is that learning a language requires teamwork. My role as the teacher is to find out what you would like to learn, and to show you how you can do that as easily and as enjoyably as possible. The learner's role is to bring energy and enthusiasm to the learning environment. As Galileo said; "I cannot teach a man anything; I can only show him what to learn". And I will add, 'how to learn' :-)

I'll be really pleased if you choose to have lessons with me and I will work hard to ensure that my lessons are excellent quality and value for money. If we have scheduled a lesson, and for some reason, you are unable to attend that lesson, if you give me a minimum of 12 hours advance notice in writing via my email, I am happy to reschedule that lesson. If you choose to cancel less than 12 hours in advance, I will still have to charge you for my time.
