About Alissa
I graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance, with a minor in Applied Mathematics. I have spent several years studying diverse educational models to make learning fun, relevant, and accessible. I myself have ADHD and have seen firsthand how with the right changes, any learning barrier can be overcome.

I tailor lessons to each individual. Students often struggle in the classroom because teachers are unable to meet their individual learning needs. My lessons incorporate evidence-based educational frameworks, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inquiry-based learning, which prioritize the student agency. This improves student engagement, develops long-term independence, and encourages critical thinking. I integrate real-world applications, such as biology and physics, based on the student's interests to reinforce college and career readiness. I ensure that students are prepared to meet current Common Core standards for mathematics.

Deadly! Alissa was wonderful from the beginning! She answered promptly and we were able to schedule the first class the same day. She is patient and calm and truly cares for the kiddos' success. She prepares and has strategies that I'm sure will show results very soon. She is very capable and smart and we are going to work with her in the future for other subjects besides math.
