About Hunter
My passion for mathematics began with curiosity about patterns, problem-solving, and logical structures. This interest led me to pursue a B.Sc in Mathematics and an M.Sc in Applied Mathematics, where I developed both theoretical depth and practical problem-solving expertise. Over 11 years of teaching, I have guided learners of all levels, helping beginners build strong foundations and advanced students prepare for competitions, exams, or research projects. My approach balances conceptual clarity with confidence-building, encouraging students to enjoy learning while mastering challenging topics.
I teach with patience, structured guidance, and adaptability, combining visualisations, stepwise explanations, and applied exercises to make concepts accessible. I encourage questions, experimentation, and independent thinking, helping students develop analytical reasoning alongside technical skill. My lessons aim to cultivate not only academic proficiency but also confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking, enabling learners to approach problems creatively and systematically.
Outside the classroom, I engage in applied mathematics research, modelling projects, and advanced problem-solving exercises to keep lessons relevant and inspiring. Incorporating contemporary examples and practical applications allows students to see the real-world significance of mathematics. Witnessing students transform from hesitation to mastery, gaining confidence and intellectual curiosity, is deeply fulfilling. Mathematics becomes meaningful when learners understand both its logical structures and real-world applications. My lessons cover algebra, calculus, probability, combinatorics, and applied problem-solving strategies. I emphasise comprehension over memorisation, guiding learners to recognise patterns, reason critically, and approach challenges methodically. Each session is interactive, incorporating visual explanations, practical examples, and multi-step exercises that encourage curiosity, independent thinking, and confidence in problem-solving.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s skill level. Beginners start with foundational arithmetic, basic algebra, and geometry to develop clarity and confidence. Intermediate learners explore calculus, probability, linear algebra, and multi-step problem-solving to strengthen analytical skills. Advanced students focus on abstract algebra, optimisation, applied modelling, and mathematical reasoning for competitions, research, or exams.
