About Hazel
My dedication to mathematics stems from an early fascination with its structure, symmetry, and universal language. What once began as a curiosity gradually evolved into a passion as I explored its applications in science, technology, and everyday life. Over a decade of teaching, I have guided learners of all levels through both foundational and advanced mathematics, witnessing their growth with great pride. Each breakthrough moment — when a student understands a long-confusing concept — reinforces my belief that mathematics, when taught correctly, becomes a source of empowerment rather than fear. I approach teaching with patience, adaptability, and deep respect for the individual learning process. Every student has a unique way of understanding, and I take the time to uncover that personal rhythm. I offer consistent support while also encouraging independence, helping learners trust their own reasoning. My lessons blend discipline with creativity, allowing students to appreciate the beauty within logic and the elegance hidden within formulas. Outside of teaching, I engage in further study, attend educational seminars, and explore innovative teaching strategies that deepen my understanding of both mathematics and pedagogy. I believe a teacher should remain a lifelong learner. Mathematics, to me, is not just a subject — it is a philosophy of thinking clearly, acting reasonably, and pursuing truth. Guiding others through this journey is one of the most meaningful roles I have chosen.

Mathematics forms the foundation of countless disciplines, from science and engineering to economics and technology. My lessons build on the belief that every student is capable of mastering mathematical concepts when they are presented in a clear, engaging, and relatable way. Instead of focusing on memorisation alone, I guide students to truly understand the logic behind each formula, equation, and theorem. From the first lesson, we strengthen basic skills such as number sense, arithmetic fluency, and pattern recognition while gradually introducing algebra, geometry, calculus, and advanced reasoning. I break down complex ideas into manageable steps, helping learners visualise abstract concepts and connect them to real-world applications. As students grow in confidence, the depth of study expands to include multi-step problem solving, analytical thinking, and mathematical modelling. Intermediate learners strengthen their skills in algebraic manipulation, functions, and geometry, while advanced students explore trigonometry, calculus, vectors, and statistical analysis. I encourage students to question, experiment, and explore different solution pathways. Through guided practice, mental maths techniques, and structured challenges, they develop both speed and accuracy, building a solid framework that supports academic success and lifelong logical thinking. The power of mathematics extends far beyond exams. It trains the brain to think systematically, approach problems with discipline, and make decisions based on reason. Many of my students have gone on to excel in mathematics competitions, science programmes, and engineering pathways. Yet the true achievement lies in their transformation from uncertainty to confidence. My mission is to ensure that every student leaves my lessons empowered, aware of their intellectual strength, and equipped with a mindset that sees challenges as puzzles waiting to be solved.
