About Colette
My fascination with mathematics began at an early age, drawn by the elegance of patterns and logical structure inherent in numbers. This passion led me to pursue an M.Sc in Applied Mathematics, which allowed me to explore both theoretical and practical aspects of mathematical reasoning. Over 11 years of teaching, I have guided students across a broad range of ages and academic levels, helping them transform uncertainty into clarity and confidence.
I believe effective teaching involves patience, adaptability, and an ability to present concepts from multiple perspectives. I focus on understanding each student’s thinking process, identifying conceptual gaps, and providing clear explanations, examples, and practice opportunities tailored to individual needs. Creating a supportive learning environment fosters curiosity and confidence, enabling students to explore challenging topics without fear of failure.
Outside the classroom, I remain actively engaged in mathematics through research, problem-solving, and exploration of real-world applications. Teaching mathematics is deeply rewarding because it empowers students to think critically, reason logically, and approach complex problems with calm, disciplined confidence.

Lesson plans are customized for each learner’s needs and goals. Beginners focus on number sense, basic operations, and confidence-building exercises with patient explanation and repetition. Intermediate learners explore algebraic manipulation, word problem interpretation, functional reasoning, graphical representation, and multi-step problem-solving.
