About Gabriella

My name is Gabriella Byrne, I have currently just finished my a-levels and am looking to study mathematics and computer science at the University of Sheffield next year.

I have been a devoted maths student my whole student life, after achieving an a* in maths at GCSE level (edexcel) I went on to study both Maths and Further-maths (OCR MEI) at a-level where i am predicted an A* and a B

Why chose me?
-I am a student. This means I understand the exam syllabus very well! I know what methods are wanted to gain full marks and also the best way to memorise formulas and methods. Furthermore i can offer my own revision material from a levels and GCSE and so will not ask you to buy extra resources ( I have tons of maths books which I am willing to share)

- I am currently on summer brake so have a very flexible time table

-I have myself been privately tutored in maths and so i know what makes a good tutor. I have found that even the most expensive and experienced of tutors are often unable to adapt to students particular needs, not taking the time to find out exactly what help is needed in the situation. Therefore I can assure that I understand the importance of communication among students and tutors and so help you gain the maximum out of every lesson.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology is very flexible.

Before each lesson I like to make sure what is actually required in this topic:
-Does the topic need to be run down from the basics?
-Does the student just need practise?
-Does the student want me to find hard questions to test their abilities and secure an a*?

From these questions I can set what kind of lesson i need to prepare and materials i should bring to the lesson so that I can target exactly what the student needs from my help.

From my experience I have found that home work is very important in order to gain the maximum out of lessons. I am willing to set varying amounts of additional work dependant on what the student is comfortable with and furthermore I will mark this myself and go through in lessons.

- Secondary School students
- A-level students in the following subjects: C1, C2, C3, C4, M1
-If there are any a level maths or further maths modules that need assistance please ask as I have studied more modules but will need to be refreshed on the topics.
