About Owen
Hi! My name is MingChen(Owen) Zhu, and I’m a 20-year-old second-year student at the University of Melbourne, currently studying a Bachelor of Science majoring in Mathematics and Statistics. I have maintained H1 across my mathematics subjects which reflects my strong academic foundation and consistent effort.
I’m a friendly man. I decided to become a tutor because I find it genuinely rewarding to help students improve their grades and overcome difficult concepts. Seeing students gain confidence and finally understand topics they once struggled with gives me a strong sense of achievement.
Teaching also helps me deepen and reinforce my own understanding, so tutoring becomes a process where both the student and I grow and improve together.

My lessons are designed for middle school and high school students, and I also welcome younger learners who want to build strong mathematical foundations. A typical lesson lasts around 90 minutes, including concept explanations, guided exercises, and practice with exam-style or past-paper questions. I teach with patience . If a student does not fully understand a topic, I will revisit the concept using different explanations and reinforce it through targeted practice problems. I have previous tutoring experience from high school, where I taught mathematics to middle school students, mainly covering IB MYP , and received very positive feedback from both students and parents. My goal is to help students improve confidence, develop logical thinking, and build solid problem-solving skills in mathematics.
