About Evie
My enthusiasm for teaching mathematics comes from a deep appreciation for the clarity, structure, and beauty that numbers and patterns offer. Over time, this passion inspired me to teach math professionally and dedicate seven years to helping learners grow both academically and personally. I find great joy in guiding students through challenges they once thought they could not overcome. My teaching style is patient, warm, and focused on building genuine understanding rather than memorization. I have taught a wide range of levels, from elementary school math and middle school math to more advanced algebra, geometry, and SAT math preparation. I am committed to making lessons feel comfortable and supportive so students who may feel anxious can gradually build confidence. My goal is always to help learners understand concepts from the inside out, developing strong reasoning skills that stay with them long after lessons end. Many students find themselves enjoying math more once they see it presented in a calm, encouraging way. In addition to teaching, I spend time studying new instructional techniques, exploring mathematical puzzles, and designing creative problem-solving activities. I bring these ideas into my lessons to keep learning engaging, fresh, and accessible. Helping students grow into confident, curious thinkers is incredibly fulfilling, and I am dedicated to providing an environment where learners feel supported, valued, and motivated to do their best.

Mathematics becomes much more approachable when it is taught with warmth, clarity, and carefully paced guidance. In my lessons, we begin by strengthening foundational knowledge through elementary school math topics such as number sense, operations, fractions, and early problem-solving. I use visuals, real-life examples, and calm explanations to help learners feel secure and confident. At this stage, we focus on building an understanding that supports all future learning and helps students develop a positive relationship with mathematics.
As students progress, we move into middle school math, where concepts become more structured. Here we explore expressions, equations, ratios, proportional reasoning, algebra, and geometry. I break each concept into digestible steps so students can understand not only how to solve problems but also why each step makes sense. This stage focuses on strengthening logical thinking, improving analytical skills, and helping learners feel more comfortable with abstract ideas. Students gain the tools needed to succeed in higher-level mathematics with confidence.
For advanced learners, lessons include multi-step algebra, geometry applications, modeling, and SAT math strategies. I teach students how to manage time efficiently, recognize patterns, and apply methods calmly under pressure. Through guided practice, clear explanations, and supportive coaching, students build confidence, speed, and strong reasoning abilities. My approach ensures that learners feel prepared, capable, and motivated to tackle any mathematical challenge.
