About Lydia
As someone who struggled with STEM until Year 11, gravitating much more to the humanities, I had to work to achieve the grades I did and become a medical student. I always felt like I was just someone who didn't have a 'science brain', and was told I should focus on English. However, I soon realised the key to succeeding in STEM wasn't about pouring over the same textbooks for hours on end, leaving me confused and frustrated, but instead about discovering new, science-backed techniques for learning, memorisation and revision that worked for me and made content click.
My medical background means I bring a professional, in-depth understanding of GCSE Biology to my tutoring. I explain difficult biological concepts from a variety of angles, sometimes with snippets of easy to understand extracurricular information, to enhance understanding of the content and clear up confusion.
I love opening my students up to new ways of learning and revising that work for them and make GCSE biology enjoyable rather than a struggle. I'm also passionate about creating a supportive, friendly environment, because I believe the student's self-confidence in their ability is essential, and I want to foster that.

My name is Lydia, I'm a medical student with firsthand experience overcoming the challenges of STEM subjects, and I’m here to help students achieve their full potential in biology. Having struggled with STEM subjects growing up, I know the frustration that comes with it—but I also know how to turn things around through effective, scientifically proven strategies and tailored support. I place heavy focus on adapting to each student's personality and learning style to boost not only understanding of biology, but also confidence and enjoyment of the subject. I use a wide range of engaging teaching techniques, including practice questions, past papers, visual aids, and discussion-based learning to solidify understanding and build memory retention.
My sessions are typically 60mins in length, but I can offer 90min sessions for students requiring deeper dives into subjects. Whether you are looking to understand difficult topics or improve your revision, I can help. Book a session today!
