About Alexia

Hi, I’m Alexia. I’m a medical student on scholarship with a strong academic background in the sciences and languages, and a genuine passion for education. I truly enjoy teaching because I know how impactful it is to encounter someone who can explain concepts with clarity, coherence, and logical reasoning. As a student myself, I’ve always valued teachers who go beyond surface-level explanations, and that philosophy sits at the core of how I teach. While disciplines such as medicine inevitably involve memorisation, I believe that deep understanding is what allows knowledge to truly take root and compound over time.

My aim is not simply to prepare students for exams, but to guide them towards understanding concepts in a way that builds long-term confidence, intellectual independence, and academic resilience. Teaching, for me, is also an act of service. I’m deeply motivated by supporting students who may find themselves in positions I once experienced, and by offering clarity, structure, and encouragement when it matters most. At the same time, I value the mutual exchange that teaching brings — working with bright, motivated students continually refines my own thinking and strengthens the methods and techniques I use.

Alongside my academic work, I hold leadership roles within student-led initiatives at my university, where mentoring and supporting others is central to my role. These experiences have shaped my teaching style to be thoughtful, patient, and structured, and I take pride in creating an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and genuinely invested in their learning journey. My goal is to help students build strong foundations, effective study habits, and the confidence to excel — not only in exams, but throughout their future academic and professional paths.

I provide lessons for students at GCSE & A-level in Chemistry, Biology, and Spanish, as well as those preparing for medical school applications. Lessons are tailored to each student's age, level, and goals, whether building confidence in foundational concepts, mastering exam technique, or aiming for top grades. I bring the same strategies and techniques to tutoring that have guided my own academic success.

My approach is highly personalised, combining exam-focused techniques, active recall, and testing to build both confidence and mastery. My aim is to help students achieve more than top grades — I help develop lifelong skills, a genuine love for learning, and insight into what it really takes to succeed in medicine. I provide guidance on medical school preparation, including interview refinement, personal statement development, and insider tips from someone who has actively navigated the process.

Typical lessons are 60–90 minutes, structured to suit each student’s goals and learning style. While I have experience tutoring Spanish and piano, I apply the same effective techniques to Chemistry and Biology, ensuring lessons are engaging, results-driven, and designed to build confidence and mastery. Students gain clarity, exam success, strategic study habits and skills that continue to strengthen throughout their academic journey, helping them become independent, outstanding learners.
