About Orestis

Native Greek with a deep knowledge of every aspect of the language. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of Athens. I am fluent in English and French. After moving from Athens, Greece, to California in 2015 I began to teach Modern Greek Lessons both online and in person. Since then, I have also been teaching Greek at the Greek School of the Annunciation in Sacramento, CA.

About the lesson

As a Greek Instructor, I combine multiple teaching methods, making sure that every student receives a personalized approach based on their needs, desires, strengths and weaknesses. If you are interested in learning Greek, desire to become more fluent, or would like to introduce your kids to the language, I am able to teach all levels and ages. You may be dreaming of your next trip to Greece. It is wonderful to be able to communicate with Greeks in their own language!

For the past 20 years, Orestis has been working simultaneously as a professional musician, lyricist and composer.

Orestis has been my Greek language tutor for almost five years now. That I have been taking lessons from him for all this time speaks to his effectiveness in teaching Greek.
He is knowledge and proficiency in English has been incredibly important in helping me "re-learn" Greek, especially in grammar and nuance.
Additionally, and perhaps most importantly, his patience with my mistakes (which are many :-) helps and builds confidence.
He even hosts a monthly Zoom call with his students where we converse in Greek. These sessions really help learning Greek.
If you are looking to learn Greek, I highly recommend you consider Orestis as a tutor. For me, not only is he my Greek tutor, but he has also become a good friend.

I have been working with Orestis while learning Greek, and I would recommend him 1,000 times over. He is a very patient and thorough teacher, covering all aspects of the language (reading, writing, listening, speaking, proper accent...). Each lesson we have is well thought out, and he provides thorough class notes for my review later. He has truly made my learning process fun as well as effective.

Orestis is the BEST teacher you can have in the world! He has full command of several languages (French and English, besides Greek), and knowledgeable in so many areas. This puts him in a unique position for teaching Greek in a highly interactive and interesting way. He will tailor his teaching according to your mother tongue, to the subjects that interest you, and to what you find fun to do, and in that way, you will reach a fairly good level of spoken Greek in no time. He will make you listen, talk, read, make homework in his classes and all that with much fun and enthusiasm! You absolutely can not find a better teacher!
