About Sydney

Hi! I am Sydney and I love school. I have Master's degree in City and Regional Planning (with honors) with a focus on real estate development from the University of Pennsylvania. I received my undergraduate degree with honors in American Studies (a hybrid of English and American History) from the University of Michigan - Go Blue!

I have extensive experience of both being tutored and tutoring others. I appreciate the invaluable help tutors provide - I seek to provide that genuine care and urge to see one succeed in my tutoring services. I have experience tutoring elementary through grad school (and even continuing education students) students in various subjects. I taught and tutored in religious school for four years (ranging from 3rd grade to Juniors in high school). I also tutored high school math for seven years beginning in high school, when I was selected by three teachers to participate in a tutoring program for peers, specifically related to math and English. My interdisciplinary background from top schools has allowed me to thrive in academics and I hope to pass along my love of learning (which in turn makes learning easier) to those who seek help. I look forward to hearing about your needs, wants and learning style to create a partnership that will enable you to feel in control of your own learning.

About the lesson

I specialize in writing and English. After writing thousands of pages of papers over the years and being subject to critical "eyes" by writing experts at elite institutions, I finally figured out how to write and hope to pass along tricks, tips and ways of thinking about grammar, sequence and structure, while clearly conveying thought in written form. I also have I hated math and had screaming matches with my mother growing up regarding how to approach homework - I have, in turn, made it fun to learn math through relatable reinterpretations of the problems, solutions, and strategies.

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy to respect both your and my time. I am easy to reach, as I want the students I work with to be encouraged to reach out with a fast response time in return. Please feel free to reach out regarding any additional questions, other opportunities to help with tutoring (particularly if your subject matter isn't listed), or to schedule a lesson. I will be honest if I cannot provide top quality tutoring in that subject. I am also very open to feedback - I seek to serve you in helping you achieve your goals in the most efficient way possible and will refine the approach accordingly.
