About Amanda
I've taught all levels of English, to both adults and children. I'm a native English speaker, and have the Trinity cert TESOL and DELTA Module 1. With around 10 years' experience, I've taught in many countries, including the UK, Spain, Austria, Japan, the Middle East and New Zealand. I've been teaching IELTS online for over 2 years and can also teach all levels of General English. My background is in science. I have two degrees (BSc and MSc) and began my career in publishing. I've also spent many years as a business writer and editor of academic reports. I think this variety adds to my teaching ability and outlook in life. I am an approachable teacher who encourages and supports my students to achieve the best that they can be.

I've taught English to all levels and ages, and now specialise in IELTS preparation. Whether you are just beginning your IELTS journey, or need to improve your IELTS band score, I can help with all four skills. Lessons are tailored to a student's requirements, but I often focus on writing and speaking, as well as helping with additional grammar and vocabulary, and improving pronunciation. I previously taught IELTS for the British Council, and am a past speaking examiner. My lessons are an hour long, and students are regularly set writing tasks and given feedback for improvement. The focus in my lessons tends to be speaking, but I will also get students to practice different grammatical structures and highlight new vocabulary to increase their range. IELTS is a tough exam, and in order to do well it requires dedication and lots of hard work - not just from me, but also from the student!
