About Anna

I've always been drawn to languages, growing up speaking Russian and Romanian at home gave me an early sense of how much a language shapes the way you think and connect with people, and that's stuck with me ever since. Studying neuroscience now, I find myself naturally curious about how learning actually happens in the brain, and I like bringing that curiosity into how I teach, rather than just following a fixed script.

What matters most to me as a tutor is patience and genuinely listening to what a student needs. No two learners are the same, a shy beginner needs something different from a confident one, and a child needs something different from an adult, so I try to meet each student where they are rather than pushing everyone through the same material at the same pace.

I offer lessons both online and in-person in London, and I enjoy working with children, beginners, and anyone wanting to build real conversational confidence. If you're looking for a tutor who's approachable, attentive, and takes your progress seriously, I'd love to work with you.

About the lesson

My teaching style blends structure with conversation. As a neuroscience student, I'm genuinely interested in how people actually acquire and retain a new language, and I try to bring that into my lessons, building on repetition, real-world context, and active speaking practice rather than just memorisation or dry grammar drills. I keep lessons interactive: we might work through structured material, but a good chunk of every session is spent actually speaking, so what you learn sticks and feels usable, not theoretical.

Lesson length
Lessons typically run 60 minutes, giving enough time to cover new material and put it into practice through conversation, without it feeling rushed or overwhelming, especially helpful for younger learners or complete beginners.

My background
I'm a native speaker of Russian and Romanian, and hold a certificate in English as a second language. I've volunteered teaching English to children, giving me hands-on experience keeping lessons engaging and age-appropriate for younger learners, and I've also tutored Russian one-on-one, focusing on building confidence from the ground up.

Who this is for
My lessons are suited to children just starting to learn a language, adult beginners with little to no prior knowledge, and anyone mainly looking to build conversational fluency and confidence rather than pass a formal exam. I adapt pacing and materials depending on age and starting level, so whether you're 8 or 38, brand new to the language or brushing up basics, I'll tailor the lesson to you.
