  • 1) Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

"My first experience was unforgettable. When I was in sixth grade, my father bought me my first laptop, and I was in awe. While I installed many games, the one that truly captivated me was PES 2011. I would sometimes spend entire nights focused on the career mode, working diligently to win the Champions League and meticulously creating my ultimate dream team. That simple joy of creation and strategy was my first real connection to technology."
  • 2) What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

"The technological evolution that has most profoundly marked our lives is the rise of Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI. It's difficult to remember life before engaging with these tools; they have fundamentally reshaped how the world operates. Generative AI has streamlined our approach to countless tasks, significantly reducing human effort and allowing us to dedicate our focus to the non-repetitive tasks and those that require the highest degree of creativity and critical thinking.

In the future, I believe the next major turning point will be the seamless integration of AI into physical systems (like advanced robotics and ubiquitous IoT), moving beyond the screen to fundamentally change our tangible world."
  • 3) Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

"My expertise lies in teaching the foundations of computer science, introductory programming, and AP Computer Science courses. I equip my students with strong, foundational languages like C++, Java, and Python. My goal is to help them understand not just how to code, but how to program anything, whether it's a mobile application, an IoT system, or a data analysis tool.

This mastery of foundations—including control flow, repetitive logic using loops, and object-oriented programming with classes—is the bedrock of the entire computer world. Any student aspiring to excel in cutting-edge fields like data science, machine learning, or embedded systems must first learn how to build robust and reliable code, not just functional code. I teach my students to think from different user perspectives and build software tools that truly address real-world needs."
  • 4) Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

"While I deeply admire the extraordinary stories and monumental impact of visionaries like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg, they often feel like distant, almost mythological, figures.

My true inspiration comes from the mentors I've learned from in university, boot camps, and the companies I've worked for. These are the people who masterfully distill complex knowledge into intuitive, simple concepts. They possess the rare ability to impart knowledge without making the process feel like a burden. Observing people who are truly adept at their craft and understand the why behind their teaching—that is the most powerful and tangible source of inspiration for me."
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

"In the sixth grade, following a challenging math midterm, my teacher prepared to hand back the papers. I was the only student to have earned a perfect score, and since I knew my result, I wasn't anxious to see my paper. Many of my classmates, however, complained about their grades and insisted they deserved higher marks.

Before handing the papers out, the teacher made a statement that remains a powerful motivator for me. He said, 'When you see your papers, you'll realize you didn't deserve the mark you got. I was easy on the grading and gave partial credit, or even full credit, to many of you. But there is one person for whom I didn't have to do that—Abdulrahman. He earned every point, and he truly deserved the full mark without any assistance.'

His words have stuck with me. They constantly remind me that genuine mastery and unassisted excellence are the most rewarding achievements, a principle I carry into my teaching and my own work."
  • 6) What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

"I would tell them that 'IT' is not one monolithic giant; it’s a toolkit, and we're starting with the smallest, most essential tool first.

I completely understand why you feel that way. When people say 'IT is too complicated,' they are usually looking at the finished skyscraper—the complex applications, the confusing error messages, the endless terminology.

But we won't start there. We will start by learning the alphabet and the grammar of technology. My entire approach is based on making the complex intuitive. We break down those intimidating concepts into simple, logical steps. We will replace the fear of the screen with the joy of control.

Think of a computer as a very obedient puppy: it only understands simple, specific commands. We are going to learn those commands together, at your pace. You don't need to be a master builder to hang a picture on the wall. You just need to learn how to hold a hammer. By the end of our sessions, you will not only be comfortable with the screen, but you will realize that you are the one in control, giving the instructions."
