About Aidan

Hi! My name is Aidan, and I am a current college student at Rutgers University, studying Cell Biology and Neuroscience. Despite my background in the sciences, I have developed the strongest experience in the field of mathematics. Throughout the past four years, I have had extensive involvement in the Mathematics Honor Society, otherwise known as Mu Alpha Theta. This program, beginning in high school and continuing in college, delves deep into the intricacies of math as a concept in the real world, enhancing students' abilities in the field at an exceptional rate. Because of the lessons and motivation drawn from this honor society, I found myself in a position where my math requirements for college were completed before I even attended. These sorts of experiences have fueled me to teach others and allow them to get a head start in math, as the honor society prompted me. As a personal tutor, I have worked with 20+ students to successfully teach and engage in the field of mathematics. From basic arithmetic that younger students are troubled with, to a more profound real-world understanding of calculus topics, I have had extensive experience in working with students and pushing them to not only understand problems but to engage in them as well. No matter the experience, performance, or background that the student has in the field, rest assured that these lessons will allow students to grow and succeed in their respective fields, and become modern-day mathematicians in and out of the classroom.

My teaching plan follows a set of guidelines that are created upon meeting each student individually. After communicating with students about their struggles, I create an extensive lesson plan that attacks a student's weaknesses while reinforcing their strengths to provide a collaborative mathematical understanding.

Lessons will typically follow work given to the student to begin with, but then will delve into textbook questions, word problems, and brain teasers to reinforce students and their abilities. Each skill will be tested with each problem provided, and students only progress after proving they have mastered the concept successfully.

Lessons are also offered to all students taking any mathematics class up until Calculus II, which traditionally is the highest level of math that a high schooler may take. I primarily speak English, but I also can work in Spanish and Italian for non-native speakers.

These lessons are designed to take each student and work with them on a personal level to ensure their success and to answer any questions they may have directly, rather than following a pre-made approach that may not suit all students.

Upon completion of each session, students will be confident in their abilities and will find themselves able to apply their newfound skills in and out of the classroom, transforming their educational and personal livelihoods as a whole.
