About Diego
My teaching methodology is always personalized according to the interests and needs of each student. I address instrumental technique and the improvisational knowledge I acquired while working in New York as a jazz musician and university professor at New Jersey City University since 2015.

Diego Ferreira holds a BA in Saxophone from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, a Master in Jazz Performance and a Master in Classical Composition, both from New Jersey City University, where he studied with Saxophonists Bob Malach (Mike Stern, Horace Silver), Walt Weiskopf ( Buddy Rich Big Band, Steely Dan, Toshiko Akiyoshi Big Band) and Jim Snidero. Diego has played alongside musicians such as Julio “Chumbinho” Herrlein, Emilio Valdes, Ricardo Baumgarten, Kiko Freitas, Michel Dorfman, Luiz Mauro Filho, Edu Martins, Vinicius Dorin, Di Steffano, Bibi Ferreira, Luiz Brasil, Marcelo Müller, Alan Ferber , Catherine Russell, Peter Slavov, Felipe Viegas. Among his recorded albums, stand out his performances in “O Encontro,” by bassist Ricardo Baumgarten and “Arquitetônicos,” by trumpeter Brasiliense Marcos Santos, in addition to the album “Angico” by drummer Graciliano Zambonin, recorded at Samurai Studios (Brooklyn, NY) and released in 2020. Diego Ferreira performs on the New York Jazz scene, where he lives since 2015.
