About Ekansha
I'm Ekansha, a Behavioral Neuroscience major at Northeastern University. I've spent the past several years in roles sitting with someone one-on-one, figuring out how they think, and helping them get unstuck.
I've led mental health and education initiatives at the state and national level, including work with New Jersey's Youth Mental Health Policy Academy, where I had to take complicated material and make it clear for people who weren't specialists. I'm also BLS/CPR certified and have logged real hours in clinical and emergency settings, so I know how to stay calm, organized, and dependable when it matters.
I show up prepared for every session, keep track of where a student is stuck, and adjust my approach until it clicks for them specifically.

Most students who struggle with math aren't bad at math, they've just been taught to memorize steps without understanding the logic underneath. I break problems down to the concept first, walk through a worked example together.
A typical lesson
First 5–10 minutes: quick review of what we covered last time, usually with 2–3 fast problems to check retention
Middle 30–35 minutes: new material or the topic the student is stuck on, broken into small steps, with me working the first example and the student working the next few with me coaching
Last 10–15 minutes: independent practice problems while I watch and only step in when they get stuck, plus homework or practice set for the week.
What sets me apart
I've spent years actually teaching. I founded and ran a STEM program at the Hoboken Free Public Library, building curricula from scratch and teaching 70+ kids across 10+ sessions. I taught students from all years of High School as part of my NHS. I've also worked as a Behavioral Technician doing 1:1 ABA therapy, which means I have real, practiced experience reading how a specific person learns and adjusting my approach.
Who my lessons are for
Middle school through high school math.
