About Ilaria

I lived in Belgium, Germany and UK where I have always had the chance to teach Italian and Italian culture. At university, my BA and MA were focused on teaching Italian as a second language and that is what I am doing since 2008. During this time, I had the chance to teach to non-native speaker children in Italy and to children and adults in all the other countries I lived in. At present, I am a student in a law conversion course in the UK. I am always keen to spend time talking about Italian curiosities and finding things and facts that are similar or different to other cultures. From grammar to conversation, from culture deep-dive to Italian cook-along, I am more than happy to offer tailored classes where everyone can feel comfortable and encouraged to learn, and able to build confidence during the journey. I am happy to teach online either one-to-one or in groups, to kids or adults. During the first lesson – free of charge – we will have an informal chat to figure a plan out. We will then use different types of resources and, if you wish, I can provide you with (regular) homework to double-check the following lesson. Ready to start?

About the lesson

My lessons usually last one hour and include warm-up with small talk, reading and/or grammar rules, and a practice session. Generally, I provide the materials by email before the lesson. I have a BA and MA qualification in Italian as a second language and I have been teaching Italian since 2008 to adults and kids. My classes are for everyone!

I have known Ilaria for over eight years when she has been teaching me Italian. She has always been very patient and, if necessary, takes time to explain things in more than one way to make sure that one fully understands. Her lessons are a great mix of grammar, comprehension and conversation. She is very patient and constructively point out errors when required. I am confident that new students will enjoy studying with Ilaria and I have no hesitation in recommending her.

If you are looking for a truly custom experience, Ilaria is your go-to person. She doesn't believe in set curricula, and she prepares each lesson individually, picking resources and exercises that are appropriate to your level but that can also push you that little bit forward each time. Every person is different, so why should the study material be the same, right?
