About George
I have been tutoring since I was an A level student myself and used it as a primary source of income whilst I completed my PhD in theoretical physics from 2019 to 2023. Now, I tutor full time, helping students achieve their university entrance requirements. My other interests outside mathematics and science include oil painting, writing, cooking, baking, running, bikepacking, hiking and travelling.

I teach using my own Zoom account. Students are able to turn up a few minutes before the lesson and I let them into the meeting at the start time. At the end of the lesson, I send the whiteboards over by email as a PDF, so that the student has our notes for future reference. I write using a stylus and students are welcome to annotate the whiteboard. Many, however, prefer to dictate as I write. Students who get the most out of lessons are those who turn up knowing which topic they would like to go over - whether it be something that they have not understood in class or some textbook or exam questions that they cannot answer. I am happy to teach any A level maths and further maths core pure topic without warning. For the optional modules, warning is appreciated as I do not teach these as often and like to prepare. Some students struggle to think of a topic in advance, so we review what they have been learning and figure out a productive way to spend the lesson. For a few students that are currently coping well, it is also possible to get ahead on future topics or look beyond the syllabus. I believe that mathematics is a subject to be understood. Memorising things will only get you so far, particularly with the nature of A level exams today. I ensure that my students understand why things are the way they are before proceeding with questions. For nearly all students, this results in a much better ability to tackle the problems at hand.
