About Katie
I am currently attending University of British Columbia for Kinesiology. I teach piano on a part-time basis as my passion for piano has immensely grow throughout the 11 years of piano playing. I have a wide variety of experiences when it comes to teaching children. Some of these experiences include tutoring academic subjects, first aid, and piano! I am empathetic, patient, and an easygoing person.
FOR THE TIME BEING, DUE TO COVID-19, I WILL NOT BE TRAVELLING FOR TEACHING.

"How will you teach my child/me?"
Depending on your skill level and what you want to attain, I will be tailoring each lesson to suit your needs and wants. I strongly believe that a good foundation of techniques is essential to help my students advance to new pieces. I will have a wide variety of piano techniques, ear training, and fun pieces for students of any age. I am patient with you as I understand how difficult piano (and frustrating) it can be and will be here as you continually improve your piano playing.
"How would you describe yourself as a teacher?"
I am patient, friendly, but still firm with my students and will clearly communicate my suggestions and corrections. Having gone through piano lessons as a child myself, I remember things that were harder for me to learn, so I will definitely help support your child/you through that. I believe that being able to technique and sight reading is an important first step that needs to be solidified in piano playing. As that gradually gets better, I will work to give with your child/you to explore different styles of piano playing.
"Do you teach RCM Theory?"
Yes, I do! I have notes and copies of past examinations that I am willing to get your child/you as prepared as possible.
