About Danh

Hello my lovely students,

My name is Danh Nguyen - a Vietnamese Canadian - currently living and teaching in Toronto, Canada.

I finished university education in Canada with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, and in Australia with a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics. Upon graduation, I got an offer from the Houston Community College Affiliate in Vietnam, where I started my career as an English instructor in 2007. In 2019, I returned to Toronto, Canada and started to work for myself, offering various services to new visa students from Vietnam including private English tutoring.

After more than 15 years teaching English abroad, I realize that the most important factor in shaping a student’s success is the teacher’s DEVOTION and DEDICATION. No matter how academically professional a teacher is, he could not succeed as a teacher without devotion and dedication. I have always been a successful teacher because I am devoted, dedicated, caring, and friendly. I care for the success of my students. That is why I always offer my students extra help for free out of the class to help them study better.

Another thing you should know about me is that I always treat my students with respect no matter how young they are. Encouraging and sympathizing are always there to help boost my student’s confidence.

Finally, there is nothing worse than a boring lesson delivered by a boring teacher who just repeats what he saw on the internet. I always deliver helpful lesson content along with a great sense of humor. I love to see my students laugh. I believe that being able to enjoy the class time helps my students learn much more efficiently.

About the lesson

My approach is LESS THEORY, MORE PRACTICE, MORE INTERACTION, and correction. Well, after all, I am here to correct, am I not?

Moreover, students are given a chance to ask lots of questions along the way. After all, the teacher should give the student what they need, what they want to know rather than what the teacher knows and wants to teach.

Regarding lesson plans, I do not have a general rigid one for myself. The reason is that each student or group of students will have different needs and requirements, different acquisition ability, and different preferences. Therefore, I always talk to my students first, and then tailor a suitable lesson plan and approach accordingly.
