About Eckard

I am Eckard Becker, a distinguished South African performer now residing in New Zealand. Having relocated to Aotearoa in 2020, I am proud to have earned my bachelor's degree in music and performing arts and was recognised as the top student in my class in 2022 & 2023. I am currently completing my master's degree in theatre (directing) at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia.

My professional journey spans a rich tapestry of experiences, including appearances in four short films. Additionally, I have showcased my talent in over 20 theatre productions, demonstrating versatility across genres, including dramas, musical theatre, and children's theatre.

In 2018, I had the privilege of representing South Africa at the esteemed World Choir Games, where my contribution earned a silver medal, reflecting my commitment to excellence on the global stage.

In 2023, I was honoured with the prestigious Zony award for Best Leading Male in a Musical for my portrayal of Mickey Johnstone in "Blood Brothers: The Musical". Additionally, I achieved success by winning the Hamilton Playbox's 24-Hour Play Challenge and securing second place in the Waikato Young Singer Competition.

Continuing to pursue excellence, I have recently joined a prominent professional theatre company poised to tour captivating productions across New Zealand.

I am driven by a passion for the performing arts and an unwavering dedication to my craft. It would be an honor to bring my wealth of experience and expertise to enriching your productions or projects.
