About Raton
I’m an ACT Math tutor with 9+ years of experience helping students improve their math skills and test scores. I’ve worked with many students who feel stuck, behind, or just not confident in math, and I focus on helping them finally make things click.
My teaching style is simple and step-by-step. I break down tough math problems into smaller, easier parts so they actually make sense. I also teach ACT strategies like how to manage time, recognize question types, and quickly eliminate wrong answers.
I try to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes because that’s how real learning happens. A lot of my students start out feeling frustrated with math, but over time they begin to feel more confident and in control.
Each lesson is tailored to what the student needs most, whether that’s reviewing basics, practicing ACT-style problems, or building test-taking strategies. My goal is to help students improve their scores while also feeling more confident in math overall.

I use a step-by-step, student-centered approach to ACT Math, focusing on helping struggling students build both understanding and confidence. I break down concepts into simple, clear steps so students understand the “why” behind the math, not just memorized rules.
I begin by identifying each student’s specific gaps through practice problems, then focus on strengthening foundational skills while also teaching ACT-specific strategies like pacing, question recognition, and elimination techniques.
Typical Lesson Plan
Each session is structured but flexible:
Quick review of previous material or warm-up problems
Focused instruction on one ACT Math topic (algebra, geometry, functions, etc.)
Guided practice with ACT-style questions
Independent practice with feedback
End-of-session review and next steps
I also track progress over time so students can see real improvement.
