About Shay

I am a University of Toronto PhD graduate in Chemical Engineering and a college professor with more than 15 years of teaching, research, and engineering experience. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds, helping them strengthen their understanding, improve their grades, and build confidence in their abilities.

I believe that effective teaching goes beyond simply solving problems; it is about helping students develop confidence, critical thinking, and a solid understanding of fundamental concepts. As a PhD graduate from the University of Toronto and a professor with over 15 years of teaching and research experience, I adapt my teaching style to each student's learning needs and goals.

My lessons are interactive and structured. I begin by identifying the student's strengths and areas that need improvement, followed by clear explanations of concepts using practical examples and step-by-step problem-solving techniques. I encourage questions and active participation to ensure students truly understand the material rather than memorize formulas.

A typical lesson includes a review of previous concepts, an explanation of new topics, guided examples, practice problems, and exam preparation strategies. I also provide support with assignments, laboratory reports, research projects, and study techniques.

What sets me apart is my combination of academic excellence and real-world engineering experience. In addition to teaching at multiple colleges in Toronto, I have extensive experience in chemical and mechanical engineering, mathematics, materials science, sustainability, and energy systems. My goal is not only to help students achieve higher grades but also to inspire them to become independent and confident learners.
