About Juozas
I'm an international photographer, filmmaker and visual storyteller from Canada with nearly two decades of professional experience. Since 2008, I've worked in more than 50 countries, creating documentary and editorial photography for organizations including UNICEF, the World Bank, Save the Children, WWF and other international NGOs.
Alongside my professional work, I've always enjoyed helping others develop their creative eye. I believe photography is one of the most rewarding skills you can learn because it changes the way you see the world, not just the pictures you take.
My background spans documentary photography, portraiture, travel, fine art and visual storytelling. Whether you're using a DSLR, mirrorless camera or even a smartphone, I enjoy helping students build both technical confidence and a personal creative style.
When I'm not working on client projects, you'll usually find me reading about current events, making art, playing guitar, brewing Kombucha or walking my dog.

Learn Photography Through Real-World Experience
Great photography is far more than camera settings. It's about observation, storytelling, and human connection.
Whether you're picking up a camera for the first time or want to take your photography to a professional level, I offer practical, personalized lessons based on nearly two decades of international experience.
Originally from Canada and now living in Rwanda, I've worked as a professional photographer in more than 50 countries, creating documentary, editorial, and organizational storytelling photography for organizations including UNICEF, the Red Cross, Save the Children and WWF. My work has taken me from remote villages and wildlife reserves to major international cities.
Lessons are tailored to your goals and experience. You might be learning how to use your first camera, improving your travel photography, building a portfolio, preparing for a photography career, or developing your own creative style.
Topics can include:

Composition and visual storytelling
Working with natural light
Portrait and documentary photography
Street and travel photography
Editing and workflow
Constructive critique of your images
Developing a personal photographic vision
My teaching style is relaxed, encouraging and highly practical. Rather than overwhelming you with technical jargon, I help you understand why photographs work and how to consistently create stronger images. Every lesson is adapted to your interests, pace and learning style.
