About Michael
Although I studied Physics at MSc+ level, my 30+ career has been more maths based, and that is where my main interest lies. I am now (largely!) retired, and as I have always enjoyed teaching, I would want to help young people passing their exams with flying colours! Why do I like teaching maths? Because more often than not people 'get it' when I explain a maths subject. That moment when the understanding becomes clear is most gratifying, for student and tutor alike!

In my classes I follow the students' curriculum. That said, sometimes we go 'off piste', trying different approaches, as maths is all about understanding the issues at hand. For example, I don't want you to learn how to solve two linear equations by heart (which is possible in extremis); I want you to get it; I want to hear the penny drop! My lessons are 1 hour long. I have worked as Technical Director for a science company for 30 years, and as a 'trusted adviser' have given lessons to industry colleagues many a time.
