About Shelby
I’ve always been passionate about science, education, and helping students feel more confident in their abilities. I completed my PhD in Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Western Ontario in 2022, and I am currently heading into my fourth year of teaching at the university level. Throughout my teaching experience, I’ve worked with students from many different academic backgrounds and understand that everyone learns differently.
I enjoy finding creative ways to explain difficult concepts and helping students connect ideas in a way that actually makes sense rather than relying on memorization alone. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and highly personalized. I know that courses like anatomy and physiology can feel overwhelming at times, so I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy creating educational resources, exploring new learning tools, and finding ways to make science more engaging and approachable. I truly love helping students succeed and celebrating their progress along the way!

Hi! I’m a university physiology and pharmacology instructor with experience teaching pre-med, nursing and health science students. I’m passionate about helping students build confidence in challenging topics by breaking complex concepts down into simple, relatable explanations.
My lessons are supportive, interactive, and tailored to each student’s learning style and goals. Whether you’re preparing for exams, struggling with course content, or just looking to strengthen your understanding, I aim to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and actively engage with the material.
I have experience teaching topics including physiology, pharmacology, biology, toxicology, and more. I also help students develop study strategies, improve critical thinking skills, and connect concepts in meaningful ways rather than relying on memorization alone.
I am currently on maternity leave from my university role, but looking to tutor/teach from home while I am off. Whether you’re a high school student or university/college student, I’d love to help you succeed!
