About Eva

I want to teach because I believe education has the power to transform lives, build confidence, and open doors to new opportunities. Having experienced the value of education firsthand, I understand how the right support and encouragement can help students achieve more than they ever thought possible.

I graduated high school early and graduated from the University of Alabama a year and a half early with a degree in Political Science and double minors in History and Business, earning a 3.775 GPA and straight A's in all my Political Science classes. At just 21, I became a certified history teacher. My academic journey taught me the importance of determination, curiosity, and effective learning strategies, and I want to share those lessons with my students.

I especially love teaching history and political science because these subjects help us understand the world, question different perspectives, and become more informed global citizens. My goal is to make every lesson engaging, accessible, and tailored to each student's learning style. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, build confidence in their abilities, and discover they can achieve incredible things. For me, teaching is about more than grades; it is about helping students recognise their potential and giving them the tools to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

My approach to tutoring is centred on making history and political science engaging, accessible, and intellectually stimulating. I believe every student has the potential to succeed when given the right tools, guidance, and encouragement. Because everyone learns and comprehends information differently, I tailor my lessons to each pupil’s individual learning style, strengths, interests, and academic goals. My lessons are highly engaging and combine clear explanations, interactive discussions, real-world examples, and critical-thinking exercises to help students develop a genuine understanding of the material rather than simply memorising facts. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring new ideas, and building confidence in their abilities.

I have two years of teaching experience and am a certified teacher in the United States. I taught world history to students aged 14–16, covering historical developments from the thirteenth century through to the modern era. I also taught U.S. Government and Economics to students aged 15–19, helping them understand political institutions, government systems, economic principles, and their relevance to everyday life. These experiences have taught me how to adapt my teaching methods to different ages, abilities, and learning needs while making complex subjects understandable and interesting.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Political Science and am currently pursuing a master's degree in International Migration and Public Policy at the London School of Economics (LSE). My postgraduate studies have further developed my understanding of international relations, migration, public policy, and the historical forces that have shaped the modern world. In particular, my academic background has given me a strong understanding of the fifteenth century to the present, including colonialism, imperialism, their global consequences, and their continuing influence on contemporary societies and political systems.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although I am happy to adapt the length and structure to suit each student's needs. Lessons can include reviewing challenging concepts, preparing for examinations, developing essay-writing and research skills, analysing primary and secondary sources, or exploring historical events and political theories in greater depth. In history, I help students understand the causes, consequences, and significance of major events while considering different historical perspectives. In political science, I encourage students to think critically about political systems, institutions, ideologies, international affairs, and public policy. I can also support students studying Economics by breaking down complex theories and applying them to practical examples.

I welcome students of different ages and academic levels, from secondary school pupils preparing for examinations to university students seeking additional support with history, political science, government, international relations, economics, migration, or public policy. I can tailor lessons to specific curricula, assignments, and academic objectives, whether a student needs help understanding foundational concepts, improving grades, preparing for exams, or developing more advanced analytical arguments.

Ultimately, my goal is not only to help students achieve their academic objectives but also to inspire curiosity, encourage independent thinking, and equip them with the confidence to approach challenging subjects. I want every student to leave a lesson feeling more knowledgeable, capable, and enthusiastic about learning.
