About Nara

Time to improve your Portuguese skills!

I am a fully qualified native speaking teacher with 20 years’ experience helping people from all over the world achieve their language goals.

My primary objective is to work with you in a supportive & engaging learning environment to help you reach these goals. Whether you are a beginner or advanced level we will reach them together.

I am a qualified private Portuguese teacher with a successful track record of providing one-to-one tuition for any needs: general training, business, travelling, etc.

As a former academic myself, I also provide academic tutoring at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in a range of subjects.

CONVERSATIONAL SKILLS:

Even quite advanced learners of Portuguese are often not as confident as they could be when it comes to their spoken Portuguese, and feel frustrated that they can't express themselves as articulately, as quickly and with the same range of nuance as in their native language. This is particularly the case when their study of Portuguese was very textbook-oriented (or indeed mainly exam-oriented!). I offer conversational training in which we'll expand your range of vocabulary and expressions and correct any lingering mistakes so that you can express yourself with confidence.

I also offer specialised pronunciation / accent reduction training.

This type of lesson can also be useful for intermediate learners who are more focused on practical, everyday communication without studying for an exam.

CULTURAL TRAINING:

The Portuguese certainly have their quirks! If you find yourself unsure about the more cultural aspects of communication in Portuguese or would simply like to enhance your sophistication in this area, I can provide guidance on all aspects of social etiquette and managing difficult situations.

I work as a Portuguese teacher privately and for several language schools, having experience with one-to-one and group lessons; beginners, intermediate, advanced and proficiency levels, present tuition and online tuition via Skype; teaching children from the age of 2; MYP and Diploma curriculum; general training and Portuguese for business purposes.

Would you be kind enough to email with a bit of information about yourself, your goals, and also the days and times on which you might potentially be seeking to have your lessons? The next step would be to organise an introductory meeting / trial lesson, free of charge, so that we can both determine whether we seem like a good match.
