About Joe
My name is Joe and I am a Primary School Teacher with over 7 years experience teaching children from Kindergarten to Year 6. Caring, patient and empathetic, I create a warm and supportive learning environment where children feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. I understand that every child learns differently and so I tailor my teaching to match each student’s individual needs. I help students develop not just knowledge, but confidence and a genuine love of learning. Trained in "Maths Mastery" for K-6 and with experience as Mathematics Lead in Primary Schools, I am passionate about making math engaging and exciting.

In my lessons, I help children from K-6 develop a deep, secure and adaptable understanding of Math. I like to focus on one learning objective at a time, using concrete materials (blocks, counters, visual aids) to help students understand the concept in a practical way. I encourage students to use the correct mathematical vocabulary to explain their thinking and once they're confident, we apply their learning in various contexts, including unfamiliar ones. I check in regularly through questions to see how they are going, provide ongoing assessments and observations to identify gaps and offer support until mastery is achieved. My lessons typically last 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the student's age and needs.
