About James
My name is James, and I’m a dedicated primary school teacher based in Manchester. I’m passionate about education and committed to helping every learner reach their full potential by providing clear, supportive, and structured guidance. With a warm and approachable teaching style, I aim to build confidence and create a positive learning experience for every student. I’d be happy to offer online tutoring for all primary school ages and across any subject within the primary curriculum. My preferred tutoring times are during the evenings and weekends, providing flexibility for busy families. Outside the classroom, I’m a keen football and cricket fan and enjoy staying active and fit – something I believe helps keep both the mind and body sharp.

Each session typically lasts between 45 minutes to an hour and is delivered online in a supportive, engaging environment. I hold a PGCE in Primary Education and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and I have 7 years of experience working with children across all primary year groups. In addition to classroom teaching, I am a Local Leader of Mathematics Education (LLME) and an accredited Professional Development Lead for the NCETM. These roles reflect my commitment to high-quality, research-informed teaching practices, particularly in Mathematics, though I tutor across the full primary curriculum. I firmly believe that all learners aged 5–11 can achieve success with the right support, structure, and encouragement. My teaching approach is built on breaking learning down into small, manageable steps, tailored to suit the individual needs of each child. I use a range of proven techniques, including modelling, scaffolding, and plenty of opportunities for practice and discussion, to help learners build confidence and deepen their understanding. Patience is at the heart of my methodology, and I ensure that every lesson builds on prior knowledge to create a strong foundation for future progress.
