About Derbhla
My Background
My approach to yoga therapy is strongly influenced by my academic background in biomedical engineering, where I studied the scientific principles underlying human physiology, biomechanics, and systems biology.
Biomedical engineering examines the body as an integrated system of interacting networks – including the nervous system, endocrine system, and circulatory system. These systems constantly communicate through biochemical signalling pathways that maintain internal balance, or homeostasis.
Through my studies, I developed a deep interest in how stress physiology and hormonal signalling interact, particularly through the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis that regulates the body’s response to stress.
Alongside this scientific training, I have completed over 350 hours of yoga teacher training with a particular focus on therapeutic yoga practices that support nervous system regulation.
My work today combines these two perspectives:
• a scientific understanding of physiology and regulatory systems
• traditional yogic practices that help restore balance in the body
The Endocrine Flow Method emerged from this integration.
