About J Robert

Hello, fellow theater enthusiasts! I'm J Robert Raines, a dedicated equity actor who's had the privilege of exploring the diverse landscapes of theater across the nation. In my journey, I've been fortunate to play roles in various union and grassroots productions, each experience shaping my understanding of the craft in profound ways. One of the highlights of my career was founding and leading a nationally renowned immersive theater for over five years. This venture deepened my appreciation for the transformative potential of live performance, teaching me invaluable lessons along the way. With a degree in acting and critical design, I strive to merge artistic expression with thoughtful design principles, constantly seeking to enhance the creative process for myself and those I collaborate with. In addition to my stage work, I've delved into the intricacies of professional standards and casting processes, eager to share insights with aspiring actors navigating the industry. My goal is simple: to humbly contribute to the rich tapestry of theater while nurturing the talents of future generations. Join me as we explore the captivating world of storytelling and creativity together.

About the lesson

Hello, fellow theatre enthusiasts and budding actors! Allow me to share why I believe you should consider me as your mentor on your theatrical journey.

In our lessons, think of me as your curator of theatrical wisdom. We'll delve into a rich tapestry of techniques and styles, meticulously building your toolbox of skills to elevate your performances to new heights. From classical methods to avant-garde approaches, we'll explore them all, ensuring you're well-equipped to tackle any role that comes your way.

But it's not just about the artistry – we'll also delve into the practicalities of the industry. Together, we'll navigate the nuances of typing, professional standards, and insider tips and tricks, empowering you to present yourself with confidence and poise in auditions and casting rooms.

And here's the exciting part – if the stage beckons, but the vehicle for your talent is yet to be found, we'll craft one together. Whether it's devising your own production, penning a captivating script, or exploring the realm of immersive theatre, we'll harness your creativity to bring your visions to life.

Now, why choose me? With a background as a professional equity actor, extensive experience in immersive theatre, and a commitment to fostering talent, I bring a blend of expertise and passion to our sessions. Together, we'll embark on a journey of discovery and growth, honing your craft and unleashing your full potential.

If you're ready to embark on this exhilarating adventure, I'm here to guide you every step of the way. Let's unlock the magic of theatre and create performances that resonate deeply with audiences. Your stage awaits – let's make every moment count.

I have known J Robert since 2019 when I worked for him as a rehearsal pianist and keyboard player in a rock musical. Since that time we have worked together on several other occasions. J Robert is a very calm and adaptable person. He is an intuitive musician who is able to work with a score or a lead sheet and improvise elegantly. I recommend J Robert because he is not only talented and knowledgeable but also kind and understanding.
