About Laurie

After already working in the industry as a writer and performer, I trained with the NYT REP company, performingin the West End venues. My credits include Macbeth (Garrick Theatre), Victoria's Knickers (Soho Theatre), To Kill A Mockingbird (Lyric Hammersmith), feature & short films, & BBC Radio.

Previously, I have taught drama classes with ages ranging from 6-17 as well as coaching monologues for drama school and NYT applicants. I have also worked with adults in preparation for auditions and as a director on shows. I directed the sell out 'Likkle Rum with Grandma' for the Roundhouse Last Word Festival 2018, and am currently the movement director on Charlie Harthill award winner 'Bible John' (****, Scotsman). I was also the contemporary dance teacher at Goldsmith's University for two years and currently work professionally as an actor across stage and screen.

About the lesson

As a writer/performer I have a huge interest in different practitioners and approaches, and as a result work with a student to find which approaches best ignite the text and their performance as an actor. As a playwright, I have access to many plays and new writing to help develop your craft, and as a first class English Graduate I have the academic skills to help you unlock a Shakespeare or classical monologue!

Depending on the student and their current goals we would:
- Find the monologue/duologue/text that's best serves them and their casting
- Specific acting coaching (noted performances and practical direction)
- Audition technique
- Industry admin (How to email agents/casting directors/best edit your spotlight CV)
