About Timothy

I'm originally from Australia but have been living and working in the UK for the last 14 years. Most recently I've worked on The Crown (Netflix), Hanna (Amazon Prime), Bodyguard (BBC1) and Ghomorrah (Sky Atlantic). On stage I've worked in some of the best theatres in the country. The Royal Exchange, Nottingham Playhouse, Tobacco Factory, Finborough, Orange Tree and Sheffield Crucible. I believe my love and passion for acting will inspire any performer looking to fearlessly tap into the truth of a character.

About the lesson

Over the 20 years I've been working as a professional actor I've become increasingly passionate about the work involved in bringing a character to life and delivering a fine performance on stage and screen. I've learnt from experience what works and what doesn't. I know the challenges that actors face when walking into an audition room or starting work on a script. I've seen first-hand how great actors work and I know what it feels like to be completely immersed in a role. I have great respect for the craft of acting and for anyone who chooses it as a profession. It's not an easy job but it can be incredibly rewarding in many different ways. In my classes I'm interested in tapping into the unique qualities that only you can bring to a role. We are all different and the wonderful thing about acting is that your perspective, your humour, your insight and your life experience is completely special. I can curate my lessons to suit your needs and experience but in general I draw on the teachings of Stanislavski and Meisner. I focus on the fundamentals of approaching a role through script analysis, developing the emotional world of a character and then staying in the moment of a scene so you can be spontaneous with impulses. I believe acting is all about DOING so my lessons are dynamic and practical. If you're preparing for an audition we'll work on that piece and I'll give guidance, direction and feedback so that you'll hopefully walk into that audition feeling free and in the moment. If you're just interested in 1-1 coaching then we can work on material of your choice or I can offer options of scenes and monologues from my extensive database.
