About Kelsey
I am a professional actress working mostly in TV and Film but with extensive training and experience in theatre and a huge love of Shakespeare. Credits include:
'Stone', a short film in which I played the lead, was nominated for the Best of British Iris Prize and aired on Channel 4.
Recently shot a co-lead role in mini series 'Lost Women Spies' airing on television next year.
Last year shot two independent feature films as a Lead and Supporting Lead.
Other work includes Netflix's The Sandman.
I have also been fortunate enough to win a few awards for my work, including Best Actress for a short film at the Manchester Film Festival.
As a kid I wasn't the most confident or outgoing but I can honestly say that acting transformed my sense of self and my belief in myself. I would be honoured to provide a safe space for someone to find their own confidence and unique voice through acting too.

About the lesson

First, I will get to know you and your goals an acting student. No matter your level or experience we will look at what you want to gain from our lessons and tailor our work to your individual goals.
You may come to me with a scene/monologue that you want to work on, or we can explore what sort of characters you are drawn to and find material together to work on.
Technique: My training combined with my experience as a professional in the industry for the past 4 years has provided me with a cohesive tool-belt of techniques that I apply to all of my work. Depending on your goals we will explore many techniques from basic script work to advanced techniques such as Laban and Meisner.
The most important technique that I insist on brining into ALL sessions is FUN. My main focus with you will be to create a relaxed and safe environment where you can push yourself and grow at your own pace with a freedom to explore, ask questions, mess up, and grow!
If you are looking for help with the Drama School audition process I will jump in with you at whatever stage you are at, whether that be choosing monologue pieces, or working on pieces you have already selected.
From there we will discuss the character and the text continuously through the rehearsal process in order to inform any performance choices along the way.
The best way to rehearse is by doing, so we will jump into action and get the performance up on it's feet quickly.
I strongly encourage learning the texts as soon as possible in order to be able to play freely and explore spontaneity in performance and all corners of the text through our rehearsals. This will put you in the most prepared, confident, and adaptable position for when you come to deliver your pieces on the day!
We can also talk through any questions you might have about the audition process as a whole. I remember it well!
Typical lesson length is 55 minutes. 5-10 minutes for a warm up, and 45 minutes for work!
