About Olivia

Hi! My name is Olivia, a recent graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. I’m passionate about music and the flute, and I love sharing that passion with my students and helping them discover the joy of making music.
Having two younger sisters, whom I’ve taught recorder and basic keyboard skills, I’m very comfortable working with children and understand how to make lessons fun, accessible and engaging. As well as young people, I have experience with all ages of students and abilities, both in one-one and group sessions and enjoy adapting my lessons to suit each student.
Although flute is my main specialism, I also have a particular strength and love for the piccolo. During my studies, I was frequently selected to play piccolo as part of my orchestral placement. Most recently, I had the opportunity to perform as the soloist for Vivaldi's Piccolo Concerto with the Trinity Laban Flute Ensemble, which was a particularly exciting part of my time at the conservatoire. Another highlight was playing Stravinsky's 'Symphony of the Psalms' on piccolo alongside the Derby Bach Choir.

For me, teaching is about more than just learning the flute or piccolo — it’s about developing a genuine love for music and enjoying the journey along the way!

About the lesson

It's important to me to provide a fun and relaxed environment for my students. Not every student is looking to do exams and grades, so I adapt myself to a student's needs and create a tailored experience that will support them in their musical journey.

I have 6 years of teaching experience, working with students of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners through to Grade 8.
Typically, I offer lessons of 30 mins, 45 mins or 1 hour but can be flexible!

whether you're looking to be pushed and have serious ambitions with the flute, or just want a relaxed lesson to unwind after a long day and do something you enjoy, I’m here to help you get the most out of your playing!

Olivia is a wonderful teacher! She has been teaching my 13 year old daughter from scratch and brings musicality and fun into the lessons. She is motivating and positive which works perfectly for my daughter.

Olivia also teaches me. I previously played until the age of 18 and then not properly for 30 years! Olivia has helped me reignite my love for the flute and I am grateful for that.

As Olivia’s colleague at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, I can say that not only is Olivia a brilliant flautist, she’s also a very empathetic, kind, and caring person. She’s always professional and is highly organized with everything she does. She has lots of concert performance and teaching experience. I’m very confident that students will have a lovely time learning and working with Olivia. She is a very patient teacher who has a great relationship with children and young people.
