Deadly! Megan is an exceptional teacher, extremely patient and no judgement at all. She works well with the neurodivergent mind (demand avoidance) and is the first teacher I have been able to work with and not feel guilty for not practicing. She is able to give you alternative ways to learn as well that helps a ton! Highly recommend!!!

Deadly! Megan is so cheerful and positive during the entire session. Even though there are always things to focus on or improve, she’s very motivational & helps find the best way for you to understand & achieve it. She has a depth of experience that she can apply where you’re at on any given day. She’s great! So glad I found her & I highly recommend trying her lessons.

Megan has been my violin teacher for several years. When we started together, I couldn’t even play for 5 minutes at a time after multiple surgeries and an extended amount of time away from the violin. Now, I’m working on a Bach Concerto and have played with a local orchestra. Megan is an incredible teacher and person! I can’t say enough wonderful things about how she has helped me achieve my dream of playing violin well.

I scheduled a lesson with Megan for our daughter after hearing about her from an acquaintance. Our daughter had started playing viola through the public school. During the first lesson we were informed she had been provided a violin not a viola, which explained some of the difficulty she was having with the instrument. Our daughter continued lessons with Megan and excelled. She became a participant in the Lawrence youth symphony orchestra. I would recommend her without reservation.

Megan has been my private lesson instructor for violin for years and I have learned so much through her teaching. While applying her amazing ability and knowledge as a violinist, she also encourages students to enjoy themselves and use music as a means of creative expression. I recommend Megan to anyone looking for a teacher who will expand their playing ability and challenge their students in a relaxed, supportive lesson!

When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?
I discovered my passion for the violin in kindergarten after a classmate performed for us. I immediately asked my mother for lessons and an instrument of my own.
Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?
I love classical music. Before practicing a piece, I study it by listening on repeat—both actively and passively while reading or working on other tasks.
Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.
Advanced Violin Concerto Study and Advanced Etudes. This course focuses on refining chord execution and developing advanced techniques such as ricochet, vibrato, and spiccato.
What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?
The violin, viola, or cello, because mastery requires simultaneously balancing techniques for sound quality and intonation.
What are your keys to success?
We start by building a strong foundation through posture and balance, reviewing this in each lesson while cultivating a sound quality that inspires students. From there, we build a challenging repertoire to advance their skills—all while keeping learning engaging and enjoyable.
Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.
Joshua Bell (whom I previously had the honor of meeting and sharing a stage with), Hilary Hahn, and Midori. All three are among the greatest violinists of all time. (I also had the honor of studying with Dr. Suzuki when I was nine.)
Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.
Consistent practice builds stamina and technique. It is best to develop a broad repertoire to draw from, play music you love, and make music every day. Listening to recordings of the pieces you are preparing will also help you master them much faster.
What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?
I work with students of all ages and skill levels. I meet my students where they are, harnessing motivation at every opportunity. I view my students and their families as partners, working together as a team to accomplish meaningful learning objectives.
