About Nadia
I hold an Honours Bachelor of Music degree with Distinction from the University of Windsor and won the 2016 Board of Governors medal for highest overall average in my program. My theory knowledge is extensive and I am equipped to offer private theory instruction in accordance with RCM requirements and/or extra support for students in high school, undergraduate, and graduate academic music courses. My approach to theory introduces/reinforces the foundations of music notation, rhythm, harmony, and analysis as it pertains to the student's primary instrument. I utilize a combination of Mark Sarnecki's method books as well as the RCM's "Celebrate Theory" series in order to give the student as much practice as needed to have confidence in their musicianship skills. I like to help the student to see music theory as not so much of a math problem to be solved but more as an exercise in listening and imagining what they see on the page as sound in their minds. The student will be encouraged to play exercises on their primary instrument during sessions and in their independent study throughout the week.
