About Hope

I am a passionate drama educator and director with experience teaching students of all ages, from children to young adults. My teaching is centred on building confidence, creativity, and communication skills through drama and performance. I have worked as a LAMDA teacher, preparing students for exams, and taught English through theatre to children in France, combining language learning with creative play. Alongside my teaching, I hold an MA in Directing from LAMDA and a First-Class BA in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of Bristol and a Foundation in acting from Drama Centre London. I have directed a wide range of productions in the UK and internationally. This combination of professional practice and teaching experience allows me to bring both rigour and creativity to my lessons. I create a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment where every student feels confident to express themselves, take creative risks, and grow as performers. Whether preparing for exams, auditions, or simply developing skills for fun, my goal is always to help students achieve their potential and enjoy the process of learning.

About the lesson

My teaching style is rooted in student-centred, creative, and practical learning. I believe drama is a powerful tool for building confidence, communication, and collaboration, so I design lessons that are active, inclusive, and tailored to each learner’s needs. I use a mix of practical exercises (voice, movement, improvisation, and text work), devising activities, and guided reflection to help students grow both as performers and as individuals. I adapt my methodology depending on the goal: For exam preparation (e.g. LAMDA exams), I focus on clear technique, text analysis, and performance confidence. For younger learners, I integrate games and creative storytelling to build engagement while introducing core performance skills. For older students and aspiring performers, I encourage critical thinking about theatre, directing, and devising, while strengthening technique and stagecraft. Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although I adapt the length depending on age group, attention span, and purpose (shorter sessions for younger children, extended workshops or rehearsals for exam groups or productions).
