About Lucy
I am a fully qualified teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience, working with learners across a range of abilities and ages. I have taught in both mainstream and SEND settings, which has given me a strong understanding of how to adapt teaching to meet individual needs. I have a genuine passion for teaching and take pride in helping students build confidence, develop essential skills, and achieve their personal and academic goals. I believe that with the right support, structure, and encouragement, every learner can make meaningful progress. My approach is calm, professional, and supportive. I focus on creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing independence. I am particularly experienced in preparing students for Functional Skills Maths and English exams, supporting learners to feel confident, capable, and well prepared. My tutoring approach is student-focused and supportive, with a strong emphasis on building confidence while working towards clear exam success. I have extensive experience working with students with autism and other SEND, and I use clear explanations, structured activities, and practical examples to make learning accessible and meaningful. Lessons focus on developing the specific skills needed for Functional Skills Maths and English exams, including exam technique, problem-solving, and real-life application of skills. Typical lessons last 60 minutes, although this can be adjusted depending on the learner’s needs. Sessions can be delivered face-to-face in Thanet or online, using interactive resources to keep students engaged and progressing. I am a fully qualified teacher with significant experience teaching and preparing learners for Entry Level Functional Skills Maths and English. My lessons are suitable for teenagers and adult learners, including those resitting or returning to education, and I provide calm, encouraging support to help every student achieve their goals.
