About Dr Ben

I am a full-time private tutor and registered Dental surgeon with experience teaching Chemistry and Biology one on one and in small groups. My love for sciences first took hold from a young age when I would be fascinated by how things worked. This further blossomed while at the University of Exeter where I gained a 1st class honours degree in Biological and Medicinal Chemistry (BMC). During my time there I particularly enjoyed my work on renewable pharmaceuticals where I was able to use my dual degree to understand the fundamentals of drug design from a chemical standpoint. But to also learn the biological implications and systems involved. I have been privileged to teach students from all over the globe, from the UK to the middle east, and have helped students achieve high scores in both A-Level and GCSE Chemistry and Biology. **testimonials from past students and parents*** (All testimonials can be viewed and can be officially verified) _______________________________________________ Jill Parent from London Ben has been assisting my son with Chemistry and the lessons now are proving extremely beneficial. My son comes away from his lessons both motivated and confident as Ben helps him with some of the topics he finds a little more difficult. Ben is very encouraging and extremely professional and we will continue using him for the foreseeable. His lessons will definitely make the difference in ensuring my son gets the top grade in Chemistry. _______________________________________________ Fateha Student My experience with Ben was great! He helped me prepare for my dental school interview - he was very prepared for our session. He was also very helpful in answering any questions I had and he helped me construct my answers and gave me great ideas! I feel so much more confident about my interview now. He's really easy to chat with and made me feel really comfortable aswell! I am passionate about education and feel I have the creativity, patience, and experience to deliver a high-quality and bespoke tutoring service. The main subjects I offer are A-Level/GCSE Chemistry and Biology (OCR/AQA/Edexcel). I also offer Undergraduate level Medical and Dental science tutoring, material sciences, clinical knowledge, skills, and unseen/seen case preparation. As this is specific to individual needs, please liaise with me to see if I can help. I am proud to state 100% of my students have secured a place at university to study Dentistry. I offer 1:1 MMI-styled interview preparation focusing on topics of ethics, professionalism, GDC principles, and scope of practice. Topics that are hard to practice and understand unless in a formal situation with a professional. I offer insight and inside information crucial and desirable to a competitive university application. I also offer high intensity crash courses before exam are to be held Eduaction: University: - University of Exeter - BSc (Hons) Biological and medicinal Chemistry (1st 1:1) Final year Chemistry finals average 76% - University of UCLan – Graduate accelerated BDS Dental Surgery (1st 1:1) School: A Levels - Maths [A] - Chemistry [B] - Biology [B] - Physics [B] AS Levels - Nill Scholarships and partner publications Summer project - (The characterisation of small molecules in plant pathogens) funded by the BSPP and BMSS Final year project, name contributory author (Biocatalytic processing of drug intermediates) Link: (concealed information)

My lessons involve giving students a chance to show or explain to me what their concerns are with any given subject. I can then assess areas of weakness and create a plan of action tailored to their experiences, wants, and needs. Having been in academia for the last decade, and an educator for the past 4 years I am acutely aware of how fierce the competition for university places is. One slip-up can result in the difference between a place at your dream University or not and I have experienced firsthand the pressure associated with this. I aim to give you the tools and mental preparation by ensuring that my students receive an engaging the enriching learning experience. I am not ashamed to admit having under-performed at A-Levels and then excelling at higher education, that exam technique is key to achieving high grades. Together we will focus on this and achieve the best performance you possibly can. I firmly believe in the term 'learn smart' championed by many professional educators worldwide. You may find when transitioning from A-Level to University level that you maintain the mantra that "I must learn everything". This is often not possible, especially in subjects such as Medicine and its allied fields and sciences where information is endless, and time is the most important commodity you have. I will teach you how to learn smart and retain more information while not being a sacrifice or detriment to your mental health. As well as expert Chemistry and Biology tutorage, I help with personal statement recommendations for Medicine and Dentistry as well as running mock MMI interviews for prospective students.
