About Rachel
I am a fully qualified mathematics teacher, with experience teaching classes in GCSE (both higher and foundation tiers), A Level, access courses, and undergraduate degree level. My private tutoring background includes all stages from KS3 to third-year BSc mathematics. All of my students have provided positive feedback for my tuition; all demonstrated satisfaction with their progress and pride in their achievement.
I’m also an accomplished mathematician, gaining a 1st class BSc, Distinction grade Master’s degree, a Research Master’s degree, and have had 3 research papers accepted for publication in the Journal of Mathematical Engineering. My academic background includes both Pure and Applied Mathematics, as well as Theoretical Physics, Logic and Philosophy.

My style of teaching is based on the assumption that everybody has the potential to understand mathematics, it just takes the right explanation. I therefore tailor the learning experience to each individual, using imaginative methods that help students overcome personal barriers to learning, reach their full potential, and (just as importantly) have fun!
My post-graduate background is in Applied Mathematics, and this has been influential to my teaching methodology. My experience as a teacher has demonstrated the importance of using real-life applications as a teaching tool, and I have used this strategy to successfully teach a range of topics (including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus) to struggling students.
During my teaching career, I have selected, adapted, and developed creative approaches to teaching mathematical concepts, particularly those topics that people generally find abstract and daunting. I use a range of resources and activities designed to make the material meaningful and enjoyable. I keep up to date with educational research and attend talks on effective teaching so that I can provide high-quality lessons to students at all stages of education.
I have an office/small classroom in Liverpool City Centre to meet with students and deliver private tuition in a relaxed yet professional environment.
