About Rachel
- What kind of experience do you have?
I play flute professionally in London and across the UK and abroad, in orchestras, ensembles and chamber music groups. My playing includes recital and solo work and for weddings and corporate functions.
I have over 20 years of teaching experience from beginners to post conservatoire standard. I regularly coach students for entry into music college, and to study music at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I also teach adults who simply like to play for enjoyment and wish to improve their skills.
I coach Youth Orchestras and give masterclasses to schools and Universities and Wind Orchestras across the UK and abroad. I have taught in schools, and at Trinity Laban Junior department. Most of my pupils now are private who come to my house where I have a lovely music studio.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes
- Where and with whom did you train?
I trained at the Royal Northern College of Music, and Royal Holloway, before obtaining a Masters and Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from Salford University, Manchester.
I have ongoing lessons with London based professional orchestral principal players.

I am a member of the Musicians' Union and The Royal Society of Musicians. I am also a council member for the British Flute Society.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently have a variety of students of differing standards, and recently had two who have been accepted into the Royal Welsh College of Music, Junior Guildhall and Trinity College of Music. Others are doing grades 5-8 and diplomas this term.
